Something new here: Backpack picks. Once a week I will showcase a game that will fit in a backpack and perfect to take on the go. This week’s backpack pick: Friday the 13th from Iello Games and Le Scorpion Masque.
This is Reiner Knizia’s game Poison with a facelift. New art work has been added to create this game that deals with bad luck: black cats, broken mirrors, walking under ladders, and the dreaded Friday the 13th.
In this quick playing game, players play cards from their hand in an attempt to avoid back luck. Cards are played from your hand into piles according to the type of bad luck. Each card has a number value printed on the card. When a pile’s total value of all the cards added together exceeds 13, the player who played the card that pushed the total over 13, takes that pile of cards, leaving the last card played in that pile. Once all of the cards have been played, the player who has the most cards of each bad luck type discards that pile of cards with the exception of the Friday the 13th cards. Total up the amount of bad luck. Play repeats for a total of 4 rounds. The player with the lowest amount of bad luck is the winner.
This is a quick, fun, light-strategy card game that is perfect to take the go. This game is great for school, the cafe, the dorm room, the pub, restaurant or the lunch room at work. #backpackpicks
